Alan Hawkins, M.A., RPA
Alan Hawkins received his undergraduate and graduate degrees in Anthropology from the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville (B.A. 1991, M.A. 1997). Alan joined the OSA in 1998 and has been active in cultural resource management and archaeological research in the Midwest, Mississippi Valley, and Plains for over 30 years. He has experience in Arkansas, Illinois, Iowa, Louisiana, Missouri, Oklahoma, Texas, Virginia, and Wisconsin. He has also served on the Iowa Archeological Society Board of Directors as the Membership Secretary and Treasurer since 2005.
At the OSA, Alan consults with city and county engineers, private engineering firms, and the Iowa Department of Transportation on the possible effects of proposed construction projects on cultural resources, and provides guidance on what level of archaeological or historic architectural investigations would be appropriate.
