One of the primary missions of the Office of the State Archaeologist is the dissemination of information on archaeological and historical topics to both professional and public audiences.
The OSA offers two archaeological publication series for purchase online: Reports and Special Publications. Through these publications, the OSA strives to further educate and inform the public in the preservation, protection, and interpretation of the archaeological resources of Iowa. The OSA Report series consists of scientific monographs on archaeological topics dealing with Iowa, the Midwest, and the Great Plains, and occasionally more regionally diverse archaeological monographs by Iowa scholars. Special Publications are popularized books dealing with archeological topics of interest to educators, naturalists, and the general public.
The OSA's complete catalog is available digitally as PDF downloads, and select publications are available in-print. Thanks to a cooperative partnership with the Iowa Archeological Society, these publications are available for purchase via credit card or PayPal.
