Research interests: midcontinental Late Prehistoric traditions, archaeology and ethnographies of Iowa’s historic tribes, archeology of European immigrant groups to the Midcontinent, industrial archaeology, public participation in archaeology.

Cindy serves as an OSA Research Director, with her primary focus being Iowa Department of Transportation projects. She worked as an OSA research archaeologist from 1992-2015, and as a U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Rock Island District, district archaeologist and tribal liaison from 2015-2019, before returning to the OSA. Cindy particularly enjoys introducing volunteers to archaeological research, and building relationships with volunteers, tribal members, peers, landowners, clients, and agency staff.
